Suzuki Roshi Quote

Shunryu Suzuki had a wonderful way with words. Here's something he said that I ran across today:

If you are not a Buddhist,
you think there are Buddhists and non-Buddhists.

But if you are a Buddhist
you realize that everyone's a Buddhist—even the bugs.

Now is feels to me this Sat night that I have been remiss in writing my 'gratitudes'
Not that I have been ungrateful mind you!

Today after a 2hr long walk through the Tanglewood with Beloved I am feeling grateful for the joys of living so close to this wonderful environment and having someone I love to walk with.

Happy Sat

Delwyn,

Same thing. I haven't been posting gratitudes per se, but I've been feeling very GRATEFUL so much so, it's a bit hard to pluck out which moment to mention.

Sarah Lulu,

I really like the quote. From my point of view I the word "Buddhist" could be replaced with "Christian" "Muslim" "Jew" "Jain" "Hindu" "Agnostic" or even "Atheist" and the idea would still hold, provided you fully absorbed the teaching you follow.
