Hi dan

I have been thinking about you and what activities you may have been enjoying in your holiday.

Do you compose on the hoof (or in this case on the canoe) like I do...

Happy summer holidays

dan i've stopped in the middle of a lake or let a river carry me and felt the water through the skin of the boat and it's so like sitting in a tree or lying on my back in a field. closer. steven

For me that encapsulates a haiku moment perfectly.

Hi, Delwyn,

I've been walking, canoeing and sailing. Reading and gardening. Meeting friends for tea. It's been a soulful summer.

I composed this haiku in the canoe, and like you and Mary Oliver, often compose while on long solitary walks, too.

Hi, steven--

So you know! My canoe is made of a light plastic laminate that "oilcans" slightly under waves, transmitting the energy of the waves to the seat of my pants.

Closer. Connected. And of course, the canoe itself moves with the waves, dancing on the surface of the water.

Dave, coming from you, that's quite a compliment. Thanks.
